The new Zenith Defy Skyline CX watch is collectively unveiled It offers a balanced look that makes one wish it would become the standard for the Defy Skyline series.Since its inception in 2018, Collective Horology is a watch enthusiast club "based in Ventura, California" that has made a name for itself through the Collective series and the Portfolio series, the former of which collaborates with watch brands such as IWC, H. Moser & Cie., Armin Strom, Czapek and Oris to launch limited editions, and the latter of which commissions watches from independent watchmakers. Since its debut in 2022, the Zenith Defy Skyline series has been well received, perfectly blending vintage Defy design elements with contemporary watchmaking innovations. The Defy Skyline CX Collective Horology Edition is a near-monochromatic, minimalist watch that only displays the time. However, it is far from simple, introducing features that have not been seen in Defy designs to date. The 41mm stainless steel case and interchangeable integrated bracelet have a smooth sandblasted matte finish, with subtle polished accents on the screw-down crown, dodecagonal bezel edge and partially transparent caseback, adding a pleasing contrast to its almost understated aesthetic.
The matte silver-grey dial of the Defy Skyline CX retains the collection's signature starry sky engraving, but this edition introduces a gradient effect. The four-pointed star is deeply engraved in the center of the dial, gradually becoming lighter and lighter towards the outer edge, creating a unique visual transition. The layout is equally unique, omitting the date window for a simpler design. The 1/10 second indicator, traditionally located at 9 o'clock opposite the date window on standard models, is now repositioned above the 6 o'clock mark - a position previously unique to the Defy Skyline Skeleton watch. The rhodium-plated faceted hour markers and baton-shaped hands are treated with Super-LumiNova SLN C1, consistent with the aesthetic of the series. The tip of the 1/10 second hand and the "10" mark on the subdial are both painted orange, emphasizing the high-frequency nature of this model and adding a dynamic touch.

The Defy Skyline CX Edition is driven by a modified El Primero 3620 automatic movement that runs at a frequency of 36,000 vph and provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours when fully wound. For versatility and style, the watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet and an orange textured rubber strap, both with a steel folding clasp. Changing between the two is smooth and tool-free thanks to a quick-change strap mechanism on the back of the case.
